Dr. John M.
Dr. John M. is the Spiritual Care Coordinator at the Retreat, a Twelve Step residential immersion program for addiction recovery, located in Wayzata, Minnesota. From 1994 to 2014 he was the Director of Spiritual Guidance at the Hazelden Foundation, an addiction treatment center in Center City, Minnesota. He is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and the Theological School of Drew University, from which he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree with a focus in family therapy. John is a United Methodist minister, having served as a parish pastor for 17 years in New Jersey and New England. He was the co-author, with Bowen White, MD, of Clinician’s Guide to Spirituality, published by McGraw-Hill and Hazelden in 2001. He is the author of Being Sober and Becoming Happy, published by Amazon in 2013. Dr. M. was an instructor in the Drug Information and Education courses in the graduate school of Glassboro (NJ) State College, which is now Rowan University, as well as an Assistant Professor in the Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies. He as been married to his wife Priscilla since 1976, and lives with her in Saint Paul, Minnesota. They have 2 daughters and three grandchildren.
